Arceus Quartet, 2024
Working with the Arceus Quartet, Rött recorded the first two movements of Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8 and the first movement of Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1. These were recorded in the Peabody Institute Studio A using a combination of close miking and an AB pair. The mixing process then incorporated digital reverb. The combination of spot microphones, an AB, and digital reverb allowed for the nature of the space and its relationship to the direct sound to be chosen in post and finely tuned.
